Lorraine Lawson has been teaching for more than 15 years. During this time she has become one the most sought-after contemporary vocal coaches in Toronto, teaching professionals and aspiring singers alike. Lawson is committed to giving her students the tools, tricks and tips to “get” something from each and every lesson with lasting, consistent results, to help each student become the best singer they can be.

Her students have starred in musicals including Rock of Ages and Ross Petty’s Pantomimes, as well as on stage at Prince Edward Island’s Charlottetown Festival. Recording artists like Jordan Francis (Camp Rock), Amanda Morra (Costa Music) and Michael Kaeshammer (Alert Music/Universal), utilize Lawson as a coach when preparing for the studio and live tours.

Lawson has been a vocal arranger and producer for EMI, Sony Music, Universal Music, CP Records, Wal-Mart, and top music producers in Toronto, Los Angeles and New York. In addition, Lawson teaches classes and workshops for such courses as Sheridan College’s Musical Theatre Program.

As a working singer and recording artist, Lawson’s career has taken her from performing internationally, singing radio and TV jingles, recording sessions to releasing three CDs of her own.

Her education is diverse and extensive, majoring in dance and musical theatre at Etobicoke High School of the Arts, and later at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. She graduated with honours from Humber College’s jazz program and has won numerous awards along the way. In addition, Lawson has studied privately with North America’s top coaches in dance, drama and voice, including David Rotenberg at Equity Showcase; the Sean Boutilier School of Dance; Elaine Overholt; and classically at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto and Seth Riggs’s Speech Level Singing in Los Angeles.

Lawson is a passionate teacher, ready with the skills and experience to assist her students in achieving their goals, whatever they maybe.
